A new social media campaign reminds people that "heroes are human."

A new social media campaign aims to raise awareness about post-traumatic stress in firefighters, paramedics and police officers.

On Wednesday, students and teachers at MacEwan University held the event in support of the "I've got your back 911" campaign.

The participants took photos and posted them on social media using the #IVEGOTYOURBACK911 hashtag.

In the video, Eleena Monk, a second-year police studies student at MacEwan, talks with CBC video producer Rick Bremness about how the campaign can help first responders with PTSD.

"It is common," she said. "It is more common than you think."
