Four Edmontonians are under arrest after police found more than five litres of the so-called date rape drug gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB) stored in two-litre soft drink bottles.

“The way the GHB was being stored in pop bottles is very concerning," said Sgt. Grant Best in a news release. "If a child, or even an adult, unknowingly took a drink, the consequences could have been fatal.”

The colourless and odourless liquid, estimated to be worth more than $5,500, was seized last Thursday, days after the Edmonton police recovered 30 litres of GHB stored in three gas cans during a distracted-driving traffic stop in west Edmonton.

Police also seized cocaine worth $11,300, MDMA worth $20,000 and $5,240 in cash in Thursday's drug bust.

The four susects face a total of 10 drug-related charges.
