The Downtown Diner serves up old favourites with creative kick

Homemade food, friendly staff and a classic diner atmosphere - Edmonton AM food critic Twyla Campbell explains why you can't miss a chance to try out Fort Saskatchewan's The Downtown Diner.
A common sight for decades, it can now be difficult to find a really good diner. For those pining for the good old days of homemade comfort food and welcoming vinyl booths, Edmonton AM's food critic Twyla Campbell says the The Downtown Diner in Fort Saskatchewan is well worth the trip.

“You really do have to eat here,” Campbell says.

Make sure to try:

Prime rib Eggs Benedict - the diner’s Saturday morning special.

Stuffed French toast - filled with anything from pulled pork to cream cheese.

The Downtowner Burger - a massive homemade patty with smoked cheddar and brown-sugar bacon. “You are going to need to wear a bib, and you’re going to have to unhinge your jaw.”
