Two injured in industrial explosion near Fox Creek
Two STARS air ambulances sent to scene of explosion
An explosion near Fox Creek, Alta. has sent two men to hospital.
A spokesperson for STARS air ambulance said the explosion happened around 2:45 p.m. Saturday at an industrial site west of Fox Creek.
"We actually dispatched two helicopters – one from Grande Prairie and one from Edmonton – and the first helicopter arrived around 3:38 p.m.," said Colin Fast with STARS.
By the time the first helicopter arrived, ground emergency responders – including fire and EMS crews – were already at the scene and both men had been taken to a local hospital.
STARS then transported one man to the Edmonton International Airport where he was transferred to a second aircraft and sent to the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary.
The second man, who was in stable condition when STARS arrived in Fox Creek, remained at the local hospital.
Fox Creek is about 260 kilometres northwest of Edmonton.
