A Hamilton man was arrested Saturday after police say he was impaired while driving a 10-foot inflatable boat with a small outboard motor in the Hamilton Harbour.
Someone called 9-1-1 around 6 p.m. on Saturday and reported their suspicions. When police arrived, they found the suspect driving "in an erratic manner" on his way back into a local marina.
Police intervened and said the man "showed obvious signs of impairment by alcohol."
They arrested and charged him with impaired driving, resisting arrest and "numerous Canada Shipping Act offences."
The police service's marine unit operates year-round.
"This time of year can be particularly hazardous on the water due to weather and frigid water temperature," police said in a news release.
