For the first time in the 62-year history of the Canadian Football League all games, the entire season, has been cancelled.
The announcement came Monday after the league was unable to secure financial assistance from the federal government. On Aug. 3 the league asked for a $30-million, interest-free loan, but the sides couldn't come to terms on a deal.
It was the CFL's last-ditch effort to save the season after COVID-19, a plan that would have seen all games played in Winnipeg.
Join our Facebook live on Friday at 12:30 p.m. with former Hamilton Ticat and Saskatchewan Roughrider Pete Dyakowski, winner of the CBC's Canada's Smartest Person competition in 2012. Should the feds have done more to save the CFL season? We'll ask Pete. What do you think?
