2 Hamilton teens injured in 'consensual fight' with weapons: police
13-year-old and 15-year-old both suffered minor injuries
A 13-year-old and 15-year-old suffered minor injuries, police say, after a "consensual fight" using weapons.
The fight happened on Leggett Crescent around 5 p.m. Wednesday, according to investigators, who said one of the weapons was a knife.
Police are continuing to investigate.
The fight comes just a few weeks after 14-year-old Devan Bracci-Selvey was stabbed to death outside Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School. A 14-year-old and 18-year-old are charged with first-degree murder.
Police allege the 14-year-old is the person who stabbed Devan.
Following the fight Wednesday, the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board reached out to students and staff at Sherwood Secondary School because there was "concern" in the school community, according to spokesperson Shawn McKillop.
Principal Beth Woof wrote a letter to families stressing that student safety is of the "utmost importance" at the school.
"We would like to make you aware that this incident did not take place on school property," she wrote. "We know that this incident may be upsetting to some students and if that is the case, we are hopeful that you or your child(ren) will reach out to school staff for support."
