New COVID-19 cases at Stoney Creek Fortinos and Chartwell Willowgrove outbreak in Hamilton
Public health has not declared an outbreak at the store and recorded 25 fewer active cases in the city
A third employee at the Fortinos on Highway 8 in Stoney Creek has tested positive for COVID-19.
Loblaw said the worker was last in the Fiesta Mall location on Sunday.
The other two employees with the virus were last at work on Oct. 29 and Oct. 27.
"In these cases, we work closely with public health and follow their guidance to ensure proper notification of close contacts and required cleaning and sanitization in our stores," reads a notice on the Loblaw website.
"In all of our stores, we encourage our colleagues and employees to wear masks, particularly where physical distancing is not always possible."
No outbreak declared at Fortinos
It's unclear how each worker was infected, but Hamilton Public Health Services (HPHS) has not declared an outbreak at the store and it won't comment on individual cases.
Beverly Wright, Fortinos marketing director, said in an email that public health considered the cases "low risk."
"The store has continued with their deep cleaning protocols, mandatory masks for both customers and employees as well as daily temperature checks for employees. The store is open for business as usual and continues with their daily sanitation procedures."
