Hamilton logs 50 new cases of COVID-19

Hamilton Public Health Services (HPHS) reported 50 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday.

New cases Monday take cumulative total to 20,126 over course of pandemic

Hamilton Public Health Services (HPHS) reported 50 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday.

There are 838 active cases of COVID-19 in the city and the positivity rate is now at 8.4 per cent. 

The new cases on Monday take the cumulative total over the course of the pandemic to 20,126.

A total of 378 people have died in the past year after contracting COVID-19.

Meanwhile, 91 people were hospitalized with COVID-19 as of May 21.

At St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton, there are 32 patients currently admitted with confirmed cases of COVID-19. There are 26 patients in the intensive care unit. A total of nine staff and physicians are self isolating.

Hamilton Health Sciences is reporting 59 patients with confirmed cases of COVID-19. There are 75 staff and physicians who are self isolating.

40 COVID-19 outbreaks in Hamilton

Meanwhile, HPHS is reporting 40 COVID-19 outbreaks in the city.

Four new outbreaks were declared on Sunday as follows:

  • J&M Lodging Home.
  • Mount Hamilton Baptist Day Care — Pumpkin Patch.
  • Denholme Manor.
  • Northview Seniors Residence.

A total of 285,206 doses of vaccines have been administered as of Friday, May 21, according to Hamilton Public Health Services.

Brant

The county of Brant has 111 active cases according to data online. There were 12 new cases over the last 24 hours.

There have been 3,172 cases of COVID-19 since March 2020 and 20 deaths. There are six people currently hospitalized with the virus. 

A total of 3,041 cases have been marked as resolved. 

There have been 79,778 doses of the vaccine administered. Of this number, 6,156 have completed the vaccination series.

Haldimand-Norfolk

Haldimand and Norfolk Counties are reporting a total of 69 active cases of COVID-19., with six new cases recorded in the last 24 hours.

There have been 2,603 cases throughout the pandemic. Of those 2,485 have recovered.

The local public health unit has linked the virus to 44 deaths.

There have been 52,325 doses of the vaccine administered. Of this number 5,248 have completed the vaccination series.

Niagara

Niagara is reporting 30 new cases of COVID-19. The region has seen 15,537 cases over the course of the pandemic, including 1,992 that are active.

A total of 405 deaths have been linked to the virus over the course of the pandemic.

Meanwhile, 14,140 cases are now marked as resolved.

There have been 257,889 doses of the vaccine administered in Niagara.
