A 25-year-old Hamilton man has been arrested and charged after police say he extorted a woman he'd met online.

Toronto police allege the man requested nude photos from the woman, and she sent them. Then, his requests escalated. Police say he wanted her to perform sexual acts in front of her webcam.

The woman was uncomfortable with the demands, but when she told him, police say he threatened to share the photos she'd already sent with her family and friends.

"As the demands for sexual acts became more extreme, the victim reported the incident to police," according to a news release from Toronto Police Service.

Police searched two residences Friday, one in Oakville and one in Hamilton, and later that evening arrested the man. They charged him with extortion and publishing an intimate image without consent.

Police say the accused used aliases when speaking with the victim, and also used a computer-generated phone number (647–699–6831) to text her. They included a list of aliases and asked anyone with more information to contact police or Crime Stoppers.

Police say the man's online aliases include: Tim James, Smith Jones, Mike Jones, John_Turner 1029384756, Mikejames123456, Johnybravo1029384756, Timjames12345, Smithjames1234567892, Timjames1234567890, Timjames123456, Carlos.
