A 10-year-old boy sustained serious injuries when he fell about 30 feet at Albion Falls Saturday afternoon.
Hamilton Fire crews rescued the boy. It was at least the fifth rope rescue from the falls in the past two months.
The child sustained multiple injuries from the fall and paramedics transported the child to hospital in serious condition.
“He has some substantial injuries but none of them are life-threatening,” said David Leclair, staff sergeant with Hamilton Police.
The rescues at local waterfalls happen “surprisingly” frequently, said David Christopher, spokesman for the fire department said. “About one a week in the summer.”
He cautioned hikers and sight-seers to stay on marked paths and avoid climbing on the wet rocks.
