The girlfriend of accused murderer Mark Smich testified in court today that her boyfriend told her that his co-accused, Dellen Millard, shot Hamilton man Tim Bosma.

Marlena Meneses, 22, was in the witness box Thursday at the trial of Smich, 28, of Oakville, Ont., and Dellen Millard, 30, of Toronto are charged with first-degree murder in Bosma's death. Both have pleaded not guilty.

Meneses is testifying before a packed courtroom about her relationships with the two accused and what she knows about events around the night Bosma vanished after taking two men on a test drive of a pickup truck he was trying to sell.

She said in the days after Bosma disappeared, she asked Smich about him.

"He told me that Mr. Bosma was gone, gone," she testified. "He said that Dell murdered him."

Earlier, she said Smich and Millard were celebrating a successful "mission" the morning after Bosma disappeared.

Meneses said she got into Millard's SUV with Smich on the morning of May 7, 2013 — just hours after the Crown alleges Bosma was shot and killed at close range inside his truck.

"They were just very happy, saying that they wanted to celebrate ... they didn't tell me exactly what they were celebrating," Meneses said. "They just said that the mission went well."

She said Millard and Smich were very close, like brothers.
