Brantford man faces human trafficking charge, met victim in Hamilton: police

Police say a Brantford man offered a ride to a 25-year-old woman walking down a street in Hamilton.

A Brantford man has been charged with human trafficking after police say he isolated a Hamilton woman in his home and forced her into the sex trade.

Brantford police were called to a hotel around 4 p.m. on Wednesday to help a 25-year-old woman. Officers identified her as a potential victim of human trafficking.

They found the suspect in a vehicle near the hotel and arrested him. Detectives learned that the woman was walking down a street in Hamilton a few days earlier and accepted a ride from a man.

The man took her to a Hamilton home, where he isolated her and "made her feel that she could not leave the home," police say.

The man drove the woman to a Brantford hotel on Wednesday to introduce her to sex work. She managed to get help and police were called.

The 30-year-old Brantford man is charged with human trafficking, procuring and withholding documents.
