Two Hamilton men are facing mischief charges after they were allegedly caught taking selfies next to spray-painted trains at the Hamilton GO Centre early Wednesday.

Around 1:23 a.m., GO Transit staff saw two men dressed up like painters walk onto the downtown GO Centre platform and start spraying one of the trains, police say.

Transit officers called police, and watched the two men on a security camera take selfies with their work in the meantime.

The two men noticed police officers as they started to leave, and tried to bolt. They were caught after a short chase, police say.

"GO Transit has experienced significant property damage throughout the GTA and Hamilton area," a police news release reads.

A 24-year-old Hamilton man and a 25-year-old man were both charged with mischief under $5,000.

They were held for a bail hearing.
