The victims of a triple shooting in the city's north end have been questioned, but Hamilton Police say the injured trio has been quiet about what led to, and who fired, gunshots Monday night.

Hamilton Police spokesperson Cons. Steve Welton said investigators are continuing to gather information from neighbours near the scene of the the shooting, at MacNab Street North and Picton Street West.

"We're not getting any cooperation from the victims involved," Welton said.

Three people were sent to hospital with gunshot wounds Monday night around 10:30 p.m. after a fight ended in gun fire. Two people were seen running from the scene, but police have not made any arrests in the case.

Police believe the shooting was targeted, but Welton said he's not sure if it's related to a string of gun violence in the city this year.

"It's still very early on in the investigation to say that these crimes are linked to any other gun crimes in Hamilton," Welton said.

It's just the latest in a series of violent incidents in the lower city this year. A brazen daytime shooting in central Hamilton in May was so alarming that it inspired Mayor Fred Eisenberger to ask for a gun ban. There's dash-camera video of the alleged shooters, but police still have no suspects. Hours later, someone was shot at King and Ashley streets.
