A woman in her 60s was struck by a car Friday morning on Queenston Road and is in hospital with life-threatening injuries, police say.

Police and emergency crews responded to reports of the collision in the area of Queenston Road at Reid Avenue. It is still too early to determine the cause of the collision with the pedestrian, but the incident has limited both eastbound and westbound traffic in the area, said police.

The driver of the sedan that struck the woman remained at the scene and immediately began assisting the struck woman after the collision, said Const. Steve Welton.

Police are asking drivers, especially heavy transport trucks, to reroute north or south along Parkdale if travelling east along Queenston Road.

More to come as the investigation continues.
