Funk and soul revivalists Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings will headline Supercrawl 2015, alongside singer/songwriter Hayden and Hamilton greats Monster Truck, Daniel Lanois and more.

This year's free, multi-stage festival runs from Friday, Sept. 11 to Sunday Sept. 14 in downtown Hamilton, and also features two ticketed events leading up to the festival.

Jones is a powerful performer (and former prison guard) who channels a truly 70s vibe dripping with authenticity. The 59-year-old Grammy nominee is back on the road after beating pancreatic cancer, and audiences have been welcoming the retro-soul vanguard back with sold out shows.

"I've been a Daptone [Records] fan for over 10 years," said festival organizer Tim Potocic. "It's so exciting to have that vibe here."

Bolstering the lineup is Hamilton's Monster Truck, who are in the studio finishing up a brand new album. They've come a long way from the last time they played the festival back in 2011, when they played a side stage at noon. This year, they're headlining the main stage on Friday night.

Daniel Lanois — who is riding high on a Juno nomination for his latest record, Flesh and Machine — closes the festival on Sunday night.

Other performers include children's icon Fred Penner, The Killjoys, Elliott Brood, Terra Lightfoot, Rich Aucoin and more.

The first of the ticketed shows leading up to the free festival is is an electronic music fan's dream: Juno winner Caribou at Pier 4 Park on Friday, Aug. 7. This is Ancaster native Dan Snaith's first local show in five years, and he's joined by fellow Hamiltonian Jessy Lanza alongside Jamie xx and Egyptrixx.

The second ticketed show is on Thursday, Sept. 10 at New Vision United Church, and features Whitehorse, Corb Lund and Etiquette. Tickets for both shows will go on sale through Ticketfly.

Further lineup reveals for art exhibits, fashion, vendors, food trucks and afterparties will be announced leading up to the festival.

This marks Supercrawl's seventh year. The festival has grown exponentially from humble beginnings as a smaller festival on a section of James Street North back in 2009. Organizers say last year's festival had an economic impact of over $14 million.
