Hamilton Street Railway's (HSR) communication services got a facelift today.

HSR launched its new Twitter account @HSRnow as a way to inform itspassengers in real time of sudden changes in bus routes.

The account will be 'tweeting alerts as they happen, 24 hours a day, seven days a week' says the HSR report.

The Twitter account is connected to the direct HSR information line.

HSR's existing Twitter account, @HSR will remain active during regular business hours.

However, this specific Twitter account will not share information about possible route disturbances.

HSR will also launching a new mobile app that will allow customers to personalize specific routes, times, and stops for the most accurate information.

HSR will also be updating the bus check lines and the bus terminal signs so passengers receive the most 'up-to-the-minute' information, says the report.

These upgrades to the HSR's customer communication services are part of the $219 million-dollar operating investments the city of Hamilton has made in transit over the last eight years.
