Hamilton police have arrested and charged two men with first-degree murder following the shooting death 3½ years ago of 31-year-old Marko Bakir.

Bakir was shot and killed at his West Mountain home the evening of Nov. 22, 2018.

Police previously said a neighbour found Bakir lying in his own driveway that night. Several residents reported hearing loud bangs they believed to be shots.

Officers say Bakir was shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene after emergency crews tried to save him.

Police say the first accused, who's 28, was arrested in Thunder Bay on Wednesday.

The second, a 25-year-old Hamilton man, was already in custody for an unrelated matter, according to police, and will also face a first degree-murder charge.

Hamilton police say they worked with local and provincial police in Greater Sudbury, Thunder Bay and Manitoulin Island to make the arrests.
