1 person dead following 3-vehicle collision on highway north of Simcoe, Ont.

One person has died and four others were injured following a three-vehicle collision north of Simcoe Tuesday afternoon.

One person has died and four others were injured following a three-vehicle collision north of Simcoe Tuesday afternoon.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Const. Andrew Gamble said two cars and an SUV collided on Highway 24 near Waterford just after 3:30 p.m.

"A passenger in one of the sedans was pronounced deceased at the scene," Gamble said in a post on X. "The driver of that sedan was transported to a trauma centre by Ornge with undetermined injuries." 

Gamble said both the driver and passenger of the SUV were transported to an area hospital with undetermined injuries, while the driver of the other sedan was treated at the scene for minor injuries. 

The section of Highway 24 between Windham Road 11 and Old Highway 24 was closed for several hours for the investigation, but has since been reopened.

Police are asking anyone who was travelling on Highway 24 and witnessed the collision, or has relevant information, to contact the Norfolk OPP detachment at 1-888-310-1122.
