Police release photos showing person of interest in shooting death of Toronto teen

Hamilton police have released photos of a man they describe as a person of interest in connection with an east-end shooting at an after-hours party last summer that left a Toronto teen dead.

Natshon Defreitas was pronounced dead in hospital following the shooting, which police say happened at an empty office building on Beach Road around 4 a.m. on Sept. 23.

On Monday the service released photos showing a man walking and smiling with a group of other people.

Police say the images were captured at Modrn Nightclub hours before the the shooting.

"While it is unclear to investigators whether this individual played a role in Defreitas' death, detectives are interested in speaking with him," according to a media release.

Defreitas, a 19-year-old from Toronto, was described by his family as a charismatic teen who loved sports and dancing.

Investigators previously said they believe party at the building wasn't a one-time event and that a number of other gatherings had been held there.
