Woman, 74, killed in two-vehicle collision in St. Catharines

A 74-year-old woman has died following a two-vehicle collision in the City of St. Catharines on Wednesday, Niagara Regional Police say.

A 74-year-old woman has died following a two-vehicle collision in the City of St. Catharines on Wednesday, Niagara Regional Police say.

According to police, a Freightliner box truck driven by a 29-year-old man from the Town of Lincoln collided with a blue Toyota Matrix that was driven by the woman. The collision happened around 9:30 a.m.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Const. Barry Ravenek told CBC Hamilton the man suffered minor injuries and was not transported to hospital.

Police say the circumstances related to the cause of the crash are still under investigation.

Police are asking for any witnesses to the collision or anyone with dash-camera footage to contact the lead detective by dialing 905-688-4111, pressing option 3, extension 1009569.
