Butterfly Conservatory's Venom exhibit, until May 12
The Niagara Parks Butterfly Conservatory has launched a new exhibit, Venom.
Venom includes tarantulas, scorpions, highly poisonous toads, rattlesnakes, vipers and one of only two king cobras on display in Canada.
The family friendly and interactive educational exhibit was created by Little Ray’s Reptile Zoo of Ottawa. The zoo is one of Canada’s largest sanctuaries for unwanted pet reptiles, and none of the animals on display were taken from the wild.
Little Ray's interpreter Kevin Dungey (a.k.a. Caiman Kevin) will lead daily educational programs and interactive sessions for the public on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
The fully accessible Niagara Parks Butterfly Conservatory is located at 2565 Niagara Parkway, on the grounds of the Niagara Parks Botanical Gardens and School of Horticulture. The new exhibit is included with regular paid admission — $13.50 for adults, and $8.80 for children aged 6 to 12 years (children 5 and under are free). Parking is $5.
Information on the Conservatory, its hours of operation, admission and parking rates, as well as the NPC’s attraction packages, is available at www.niagaraparks.com.
The Venom exhibit runs from Feb. 9 to May 12.
