Alexa's Bus pays Kamloops visit this long weekend

A movement to stop drunk driving was born out of tragedy. Kamloops RCMP have some extra help this long weekend.

A movement to stop drunk driving was born out of tragedy.

It's been almost seven years since four-year-old Alexa Middelaer was struck and killed by a drunk driver in Ladner, BC.  Since then, her parents have advocated for tougher drunk driving laws.  Which is why they created Alexa's Bus.   The bus allows police to efficiently screen for drunk drivers at the roadside and also serves as a marketing tool to discourage drunk driving.

The bus arrives in Kamloops today and will help screen drivers through the Easter Long Weekend.

For more, Laurel Middelaer is Alexa's mother.
