Where some folks would see a piece of dusty, useless land next to a railway yard, one man saw possibility, promise, hops and the potential to make big bucks from the beer brewing industry.

A hops growing operation has been quietly simmering since the spring. A handful of workers toiling away in blistering heat, to plant a crop that could reap substantial financial rewards for the Kamloops Indian Band and a company called Hops Canada.

The mastermind behind the plan is a guy from Eastern Canada named Joey Bedard. We will meet him in just a minute. But first, let's start our tour with the farm manager and take a look at Kamloops best kept secret.

A dusty road between the North Thompson River and the CN Rail yard, where 240 acres has been set aside for hops. 65 acres has already been planted.
