Body found in Northern Ontario ID'd as Daniel Trask, missing Waterloo man

Remains discovered near a lake in northern Ontario have been identified as Daniel Trask, a Waterloo man who was reported missing in 2011, according to Ontario Provincial Police.

The remains were found near Lady Evelyn Lake, close to the town of Temiskaming Shores, on Monday at around 6:00 p.m., and were sent to a pathology unit for identification.

The unit identified the remains as those of Trask, who Waterloo Regional Police said was a native of Waterloo. He was 28 at the time he disappeared.

His car was found in November of 2011 on Red Squirrel Rd. near Camp Wanapitei, a youth canoe camp, on Lake Temagami's Ferguson Bay. In May of 2012, Trask's snowboarding pants and winter jacket were found about 46 kilometres from where his vehicle was found.

Over a year later, in August of 2013, the Michigan Backcountry Search and Rescue team found Trask's backpack in a marshy area about five kilometres southeast from where his jacket and pants were found.
