Snowbirds from Waterloo region will have more flight options this winter.

Flair Airlines plans to double the number of weekly flights from the Region of Waterloo International Airport to Las Vegas starting the end of October. It will see flights four times a week, up from the current two.

This comes soon after an earlier announcement from Flair that there will also be three new weekly flights heading to Puerto Vallarta beginning Dec. 16.

Stephen Jones, CEO of Flair Airlines, said in a media call Tuesday that Flair's new sun destinations will not come with vacation packages.

"People are able to put together great deals themselves with all of the internet booking options that are there," he said.

"I think we've seen around the world that the whole package tour business model is under a fair bit of pressure. So we just do what we do well, which is connect people to the places and experiences they love."

One-way fares from Las Vegas to Waterloo region will start at $59.

Flair Airlines will add a total of 13 new routes to its winter schedule from cities around Canada, including Edmonton, Vancouver and Montreal — which will be getting daily flights to Cancun starting from Oct. 29.
