On Saturday, Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health confirmed influenza B was responsible for the two reported deaths. Although the two children attended the same school, there is no evidence to show the two cases are related or that one child contracted the flu from the other.

Public health has said the risk of contracting the flu is the same at local schools as elsewhere in the community.
