More Grand River Transit service reductions planned this month
Grand River Transit has announced it is reducing bus and LRT service later in May, including buses running less frequently and some trips after midnight being cancelled.
Grand River Transit has announced there will be more service reductions to buses and the LRT after the long weekend in May.
Transit officials announced reduced frequency on some routes and that trips after midnight are being cancelled on others.
The changes include:
- Route 3, 4, 9, 13, 19, 22, 56, 57, 60 will reduce frequency on weekday evenings to every 60 minutes.
- Route 6, 7, 8, 9, 12, 13, 16, 19, 28, 201, 206 trip that depart after midnight will be cancelled until further notice.
- Route 301 ION light rail trips departing after midnight cancelled starting on May 17.
- Route 7 short turn trips between Conestoga Station and Waterloo Public Square will be removed during weekday evening peak.
- Route 26 weekday late evening service has been cancelled.
- Route 55 has been reduced to run one-way only (counterclockwise, via Churchill).
- Route 203 service between Sportsworld Station and Conestoga College will end during weekday midday.
- All service is cancelled on routes 73, 76 and 901.
- Route 9, 13, 19 will see reduced frequency on Sundays to every 60 minutes.
The region has previously announced decreased service because fewer people are riding transit during the pandemic as many companies ask people to work from home.
Transit is also currently free and riders have been asked to board buses at the back doors rather than near the driver unless they need an accessible entrance.
