Impaired driver at Tim Horton's hits officer, caught by police dog
A Waterloo Regional Police officer was struck by a car while trying to arrest an impaired driver at a Tim Horton's restaurant at about 2:00 a.m. Tuesday morning.
A Waterloo Regional Police officer was hit by a fleeing suspect while trying to arrest an impaired driver at a Tim Horton's restaurant at about 2:00 a.m. Tuesday morning.
When the driver tried to leave the scene, he hit the police officer with his vehicle. The vehicle was later found abandoned.
Shortly after 3:00 a.m., the Guelph police with police dog General came to Kitchener to help track the man. He was found after a 45-minute search.
The Kitchener man was arrested and charged with impaired driving by drugs, possession of a controlled substance, assaulting a police officer and dangerous driving.
