The first weekend of April will bring some wet and cooler weather to the region, but there's still lots of fun to be had.

Friday 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

One of the sweetest events of the year is happening this weekend. Enjoy pancakes, taffy, sugar bush tours, and all things maple syrup at this festival that takes over Elmira.

There is also a toy and collectible show, a quilt demonstration and live entertainment. Plan your day (and meals!) accordingly.

Eid Celebration

Saturday 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Waterloo Public Library, John M. Harper branch

This event is being held in collaboration with the Coalition of Muslim Women and will feature crafts, games, activities, and treats. Everyone is welcome to take part in this drop-in, free family event.

K-W Wine and Food Show

Friday 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., Saturday 12 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. (two sessions)

There will be lots of tasty treats to try at this show. There will also be cooking demonstrations and live entertainment.

Tickets should be purchased in advanced through the show's website.

Game 5: Kitchener Rangers vs. Flint Firebirds

Friday at 7:30 p.m.

It's Game 5 of the first round of Ontario Hockey League playoffs and the Rangers are ready to move on to the next challenge. Cheer them on in person and what will be a packed and very loud arena.

This is a gaming convention at the university that's open to the community. There are board games, table top role playing, live action role playing, card games and more. Take part, watch some games or check out the on-site vendors.
