Police say two men have been charged after a 14-year-old Kitchener girl was forced to perform sexual acts for money in Toronto area motels.

18-year-old from Cambridge among 2 men facing charges in human trafficking case

Toronto police say an 18-year-old Cambridge man and a 24-year-old Toronto man face a number of charges in a human trafficking case.

An 18-year-old Cambridge man is facing several charges in a human trafficking case that involved a 14-year-old girl from Kitchener.

Toronto police said the two men were aware she was only 14 when they first met.

The girl was allegedly forced to have sex with one of the men at a motel in the Toronto area, and the men took photographs of the girl "in certain degrees of undress," police said in a release.

Those photos were posted on a website to advertise sexual services and the two men made arrangements for other men to come to the motel to have sex with the girl for money, according to police.

"The girl advised the two men she did not want to have sex with any more clients," police said, adding she was allegedly assaulted by one of the men.

Victim contacted friends

On Sunday, the girl was taken to another motel in Toronto where she was forced to engage in sexual acts with strangers. After each sexual act, she gave all the money to the two men.

That day, she also reached out to friends on social media to tell them she was being held against her will. Her friends contacted police and an investigation was initiated.

The two men were arrested later on Sunday.

Police said an 18-year-old Cambridge man and a 24-year-old Toronto man have been charged with forcible confinement, trafficking in persons under 18, material benefit, material benefit from sexual services by person under 18 years, exercising control over a person under 18, advertising another person's sexual services, sexual interference and possessing or making child pornography.

The Cambridge man also faces an additional charge of possession of a prohibited weapon while the Toronto man also faces charges of uttering threats, assault and sexual assault.

Toronto police said they are concerned there may be other victims. They are asking anyone with information to call 416-808-7474 or to leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers.
