Kitchener native and beach volleyball player Sarah Pavan hopes her quest for gold at the Olympics will encourage others to strive for their own goals.

Pavan, who will be competing at the Olympics for the first time, talks about "My Moment" in a new CBC Sports video ahead of the Olympics in Rio next month.

"It's a great opportunity to inspire youth in our country," Pavan says in the video. "It's a great opportunity to show strong, powerful women doing what they do best."

It's also a great chance to encourage other Canadians to play the sport, she said, and "to hopefully inspire the future generation to continue in our footsteps."
