Waterloo Regional Police are calling Laurier's 2016 Homecoming weekend a '"successful event" after officers laid 118 charges, more than half of which were liquor-related.

Police published the numbers Monday in a news release that hailed Wilfrid University's 2016 Homecoming celebrations as a "successful event," that saw thousands of students and alumni make merry in the name of their alma mater.

The figures show that the vast majority, 114 out of a total of 118 charges, were for alleged city or provincial by-law infractions, while four were criminal charges.

Out of the 114 city or provincial infractions, most were alcohol-related. These include dozens of open liquor charges as well as other charges ranging from underage drinking to traffic tickets.
