A plan to put bronze statues of all 22 Canadian prime ministers in Victoria Park is attracting a lot of opposition from city citizens and is a divisive issue at Kitchener City Council.
The results of a public opinion survey held by the city on The Statue Project were clear: seventy-nine percent of respondents said they didn't like the idea in concept.
The group of private citizens heading the project hope to raise most of the money to pay for the $2 million project themselves, but they've request requested $300,000 in support from the city.
At 8:10 we'll hear from Kitchener Mayor Carl Zehr, who has been a supporter of the statues project, about the results of the survey, and the next steps.
