WRPS lay multiple charges after fireworks were shot at people during Victoria Day
Police investigating reports of dangerous conditions, weapons and assaults

Regional police have charged two men after officers responded to incidents that involved fighting and fireworks being shot toward people, police and by-law officers at Victoria Park Monday evening.
One police officer and one Kitchener by-law officer had minor lower-body injuries after being struck by fireworks. Other disturbances include weapons and fires, police said.
Approximately 500 people had gathered in the park for the Victoria Day fireworks. Police said officers, bylaw and security worked to restore safety in the area and to disperse the large crowd over the course of two hours.
Police said a 29-year-old Kitchener man was arrested after officers responded to a report of an assault. The man was charged with assault and failing to comply with a release order.
He was held in police custody for a bail hearing, according to police.
An 18-year-old Kitchener man was also arrested in connection to fireworks being shot into a crowd of people. Police said he was charged with assault with a weapon and causing a disturbance.
He is scheduled to appear in court on June 29.
Police said several investigations regarding reports of dangerous conditions, weapons, and assaults continue.
