Ron MacLean and Tara Slone to tap Oktoberfest keg Friday
Hometown Hockey co-hosts to appear at opening ceremony of 50th year for Bavarian festival
Hometown Hockey co-hosts Tara Slone and Ron MacLean will be on hand Friday to tap the keg at the official opening ceremonies of Oktoberfest.
This year marks the 50th year for the festival, which celebrates Bavarian culture.
K-W Oktoberfest president Margo Jones says she's thrilled Slone and MacLean will be on hand to help her with the keg tapping.
"We're going to have two women tapping the keg again this year, which is awfully special for the 50th anniversary," Jones said.
Last year, former premier Kathleen Wynne tapped the keg. In 2016, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau tapped the keg.
Hometown Hockey will be bringing NHL alumni and entertainment to the festivities Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
On Sunday, there will be an outdoor viewing party of an NHL game that will be hosted by Slone and MacLean.
The opening ceremonies get underway on the stage in front of Kitchener City Hall Friday at 11:15 a.m.
