What's open and closed for the civic holiday long weekend in Waterloo region and Guelph
It's a long weekend and that means changes to hours for many offices and businesses in Waterloo region

With the civic holiday this weekend, there are changes to opening and closing hours of various places across the region, particularly on Monday.
Curbside collection is regular for garbage, blue box, green bin, yard waste and bulky items. Items must be out by 7 a.m.
Cambridge and Waterloo waste sites are closed for residential drop-offs on Monday.
Grand River Transit is open and will be operating on holiday hours on Monday.
In general, banks and government offices will be closed. Some retail stores will also be closed on Monday.
Region of Waterloo
Closed on Monday:
- All regional administrative offices: 99 Regina St. S. in Waterloo, 150 Frederick St. in Kitchener, 150 Main St. in Cambridge.
- Transfer stations for residential drop-off at both the Cambridge and Waterloo Waste Management sites.
- All GRT customer service centres.
- Home child care offices.
- Region of Waterloo International Airport administration offices.
- All branches of Region of Waterloo libraries.
- Administration for Sunnyside Seniors' Services.
- Sunnyside Wellness Centre.
- Community Alzheimer day programs in Kitchener, Cambridge and Waterloo.
- Welcome Spaces at 99 Regina St. S. in Waterloo, 20 Weber St. E. in Kitchener, and 150 Main St. in Cambridge.
Open on Monday:
- Cooling spaces at 150 Main St., Cambridge from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 150 Frederick St., Kitchener from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Region of Waterloo International Airport operations not affected.
- Museums: Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum and Schneider Haus National Historic Site from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., McDougall Cottage Historic Site will be open from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Cambridge
Closed on Monday:
- Cambridge city hall and administrative buildings.
- Cambridge Public Library branches
- Cambridge Centre for the Arts.
- Community centres and arenas.
- W.G. Johnson Centre pool.
Open on Monday:
- Pools including: John Dolson Centre (11 a.m. to 4 p.m.), George Hancock (11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.), Ed Newland (11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.)
Kitchener
Closed on Monday:
- Kitchener city hall.
- All community centres and most arenas.
- The Aud.
- All branches of the Kitchener Public Library.
Open on Monday:
- Activa Sportsplex, including walking track.
- Doon Valley and Rockway golf courses.
- Outdoor pools: Harry Class, Idlewood, Kiwanis, Wilson.
- Indoor pools for regular programming.
Waterloo
Closed on Monday:
- Waterloo city hall.
- Albert McCormick Community Centre.
- Bechtel Park Manulife Soccer and Sports Centre.
- Moses Springer Community Centre building (pool is open for scheduled programs).
Open on Monday:
- RIM Park Manulife Sportsplex and Healthy Living Centre at 4 p.m. for scheduled programs.
- Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex and Swimplex for scheduled programs.
- Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex community pavilion.
Guelph
Transit operates between 9:15 a.m. and 6:45 p.m. but stops throughout the city become on-demand (except those serviced by Route 99 mainline, which runs every 30 minutes).
Waste collection is pushed back by one day this week. Yard waste should be placed at the curb on the normal collection day.
Closed on Monday:
- Guelph city hall.
- All Guelph Public Library branches.
- All recreation facilities.
- Guelph Civic Museum.
- McCrae House.
- Guelph Sports Dome.
- Waste Resource Innovation Centre.
Open on Monday:
- Lyon Pool.
- Market Square wading pool.
