Woman hit by car in Guelph airlifted to Hamilton hospital

A woman was airlifted to a Hamilton hospital after she was hit by a car while walking on Woolwich Street in Guelph. Police closed off a section of the road as a part of their investigation.

A woman has been airlifted to a Hamilton hospital after she was hit by a car in Guelph, Ont., on Thursday morning.

The woman, in her 30s, was walking on Woolwich Street between Speedvale Avenue West and Verney Street when she was hit.

The Guelph Police Service said the emergency call came in at 5:10 a.m. ET and the driver remained on scene.

Police said the woman was walking on the road while wearing dark clothing when she was struck by the car. The driver co-operated with investigators and was not injured.

Police closed a portion of Woolwich Street for several hours on Thursday morning as a part of their investigation.

The woman was taken to Hamilton General Hospital's trauma centre in critical condition.
