City advises drivers to avoid area
Thousands of university students are out celebrating St. Patrick's Day on Ezra Avenue in Waterloo under the watchful eyes of dozens of Waterloo Regional police and bylaw officers, including Police Chief Bryan Larkin.

Earlier last week, police promised "a very high police presence" in the city's student neighbourhoods.
University of Waterloo residences remind students to "party smart, party safe" in a public service announcement posted to Twitter. The City of Waterloo has advised drivers to avoid Albert Street south of University Avenue, along with Seagram Drive, Bricker Avenue and Ezra Avenue.
