35 new COVID-19 cases reported in Waterloo region on Tuesday 

Waterloo region saw 35 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday. Eight people are hospitalized with the virus, four of which are in the intensive care unit. There are two fewer people in hospital than the day before.

Waterloo region saw 35 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday. 

According to Waterloo Region Public Health, eight people are hospitalized with the virus, four of whom were in the intensive care unit. There were two fewer people in hospital than the day before.

No new COVID-19-related deaths have been reported.

There were 250 active cases in the region. 

11 outbreaks

There were 11 active outbreaks in the region including three in the following schools: 

  • Floradale Public School in Elmira with two cases.
  • Blessed Sacrament Catholic School in Kitchener with eight cases over multiple cohorts. Two new cases were reported on Tuesday.
  • Blair Road Public School in Cambridge with two cases.

There were three new outbreaks declared in the region on Monday and reported on Tuesday. They were at:

  • A chiropractic clinic with three cases.
  • A gym with two cases.
  • A fitness facility involving hockey with two cases.

Other outbreaks include:

  • A retail store with two cases.
  • A transportation workplace with two cases.
  • A career, skills and training workplace with four cases.
  • A gym with three cases.
  • A trades workplace with four cases.

Vaccination update

COVID-19 vaccine appointments for children aged five to 11 can now be booked through the region's online system.

The region plans to start administering doses to that age group on Friday. 

Approximately 86 per cent of people in Waterloo region who are 12 or older are now fully vaccinated.
