Waterloo taxi driver charged with sexually assaulting passenger

Police have charged a 34-year-old taxi driver with sexually assaulting a passenger in June.

Police have arrested and charged a 34-year-old taxi driver who they say sexually assaulted a passenger in June.

The driver was arrested Friday by Waterloo Regional Police major case branch investigators.

The incident was first reported to police late in the evening on June 15, after the man had driven a 32-year-old woman in his cab. The assault occurred on Adelaide Street in Kitchener, near Victoria Street and Belmont Avenue, police say.

The victim did not sustain any injuries requiring medical treatment, police said. 

The taxi driver, who has been charged with one count of sexual assault, will appear in court on October 14, 2014. Police have not released the name of the taxi company.
