Youth charged after Pride flag damaged at Kitchener home

A Kitchener youth has been charged with mischief and theft after a Pride flag was damaged outside a home on Friday.

A Kitchener youth has been charged after a Pride flag was vandalized outside a home Friday afternoon.

Police were called to a home in the area of Glasgow Street and York Street at 4 p.m. for reports that a youth had damaged a Pride flag.

Police said Friday the officers were treating the case as a "hate-motivated incident."

On Sunday, officers arrested the youth.

The youth has been charged with mischief under $5,000 and theft under $5,000.
