82-year old woman victim of homicide north of London

A man is facing a homicide charge after a senior citizen who shared his last name was found dead in a north Middlesex residence last week.

Police unwilling to say whether victim and accused were related

A man is facing a homicide charge after a senior citizen who shared his last name was found dead in a north Middlesex residence last week.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said 82-year old Maria Medeiros was dead when they responded to a call around 9 p.m.on Jan. 11. 

The next day, police said they had charged 59-year old Emanuel Medeiros with second degree murder.

OPP Const. Jeffery Hare would not say what the relationship was between the victim and the accused, and did not answer a question about whether the case is being considered a femicide.

Hare said the investigation was ongoing and updates would be provided.
