Crash involving LTC bus knocks out power to hundreds
No one hurt in the multi-vehicle crash but 1000 people started Monday in the dark
A three vehicle crash involving a London Transit Commission bus early Monday snapped a power pole, initially knocking out hydro to hundreds of London homeowners.
A section of Adelaide Street, between Nelson and Ada streets, will remain closed for a few hours as London Hydro crews work to replace the pole.
Two power lines, with 27,600 volts of electricity running through them, also needed to be taken offline and replaced.
Bus jumps curb
The bus was travelling north on Adelaide street around 6:30 a.m. when it jumped the curb, crews said.
One person was on the bus, as well as the driver, but neither was hurt, police said.
The crash caused a power outage in the area around Nelson Street, as well as a second, larger outage around the downtown area that left 800 people without power.
Both incidents snarled morning commuter traffic.
