'Hurtful, horrible': Old North school vandalized with graffiti swastika
The vandalism happened at St. George's Public School in London's Old North
The Thames Valley District School Board is acting swiftly to remove a graffiti swastika that showed up on the exterior of St. George's Public School.
The vandalism can be seen on the back wall overlooking the school's playground, next to the parking lot.
"Unfortunately somebody in the community has painted such a hurtful and horrible symbol but we will definitely remove it and we will remember that we need to continue to educate the public and continue to work toward a more diverse and inclusive society," said Matt Reid, board chair.
Reid said the board contacted London police who will conduct its own investigation.
It's unclear when the vandalism occurred, however an online Facebook post about the incident was shared to the Old North Neighbours group on Sunday.
"I would reassure our Jewish community and all communities regardless of religious background that our school board does really embrace diversity and we are a strong leader in prompting our diversity and inclusion," he said.
Reid said a similar incident that targeted a group of people happened about a year ago.
