The London Transit Commission (LTC) is extending its transfer period time to help riders dealing with construction delays during the summer.

Starting July 1st, transfers will be extended from 90 to 120 minutes, LTC's general manager Kelly Paleczny said in a media release. During this time, cash, ticket or stored value smart card riders will be provided a paper transfer good for two hours to help them get to their destination in one fare.

Stored value smart card riders must ask for a paper transfer when they board, Paleczny said. The transfer that is automatically added to the smart card will not be changed from 90 to 120 minutes.

When boarding the bus, the transfer should be presented to the operator and the smart card should not be tapped.

The City of London is spending around $170 million on new construction projects this year, and is continuing work on the east link of its bus rapid transit (BRT) system. Traffic slowdowns will be plentiful on the Highbury bridge near Dundas Street, where the road is being widened to add two dedicated bus lanes.
