Firefighter injured in Old East Village blast released from hospital

The firefighter injured in last Wednesday's explosion has been released from hospital, the city says.

The family is asking for privacy as the firefighter recovers

The firefighter injured in last Wednesday's explosion has been released from hospital, the city says. 

The firefighter is recovering at home and his family has requested privacy. 

The firefighter was injured in the blast that happened Aug. 14, caused by a drunk driver smashing into a gas line of a home on Woodman Avenue in Old East Village. 

The gas line rupture caused the house to explode, setting fire to nearby homes.
