A stretch of Rectory Street in London's Old East Village will be closed starting Wednesday.

Rectory will be closed between Florence Street and Little Simcoe Street for underground infrastructure replacement, city officials announced Tuesday.

The closure is expected to be in place until the fall.

A signed detour will be in place, directing drivers to use Florence Street, Egerton Street and Hamilton Road.

City officials are also recommending pedestrians use nearby streets as some sidewalk closures may happen throughout the duration of construction work.

During the closure, Londoners will still be able to access nearby homes, businesses, properties and the nearby BMO Centre.
