Banff
It's a gem of the Canadian Rockies. CBC is looking for a reporter to work in Banff, covering the community and Bow Valley region. While Banff is a major recreational centre, and our most visited national park, it is also a town where people work, raise their families, and face many of the same challenges as other Canadians: cost of living, housing, childcare. The population is highly transient, and the community is home and destination for people from around the world. CBC is looking for a journalist to cover news-of-the day, and context driven stories reflecting this unique community.

Fort McMurray
We are looking for a reporter to join our expanding bureau in Fort McMurray, a key hub in Canada's energy industry in northeastern Alberta. As the centre of the oil sands, the city has a youthful, international flavour, attracting people from around the world. There are so many stories to tell, from energy to the high cost of living. You will also cover the Indigenous communities of Fort McKay and Fort Chipewyan. The city is home to Keyano College and boasts a massive indoor recreation complex that includes a pool, indoor soccer fields and skating rinks. Nestled in a river valley, the region is right next door to nature. 

Hinton
We are looking for a reporter to cover Hinton, the gateway to Jasper National Park. The town is located on the Yellowhead Highway, a major transportation route connecting the prairies to the west coast. Rich in natural resources, Hinton is home to coal, timber, oilfield and tourism industries. For outdoor enthusiasts, it is home to the Hinton Nordic Centre Trails for cross-country skiing in the winter, and for mountain biking and hiking in the summer months.  In this role, you will have the opportunity to cover the national park and the northern Rockies as well as nearby communities, including Grande Cache and Edson.

Lethbridge
CBC is looking for a reporter to join our bureau in Lethbridge. Launched in 2023, our bureau covers the city of Lethbridge, and the vibrant agricultural corridor in the region. This prairie city is not only a major distribution and commercial centre in southern Alberta, but is also home to a university, a polytechnic, and vibrant arts community. Lethbridge sits on major east/west and north/south transportation routes. Lethbridge also has strong ties to Hutterite and Indigenous communities. CBC is looking for a journalist to cover news-of-the day, and the context driven stories of the city, and the region.

Lloydminster
We are looking for a reporter to cover Lloydminster, a city that uniquely straddles the border between Alberta and Saskatchewan. Located halfway between Saskatoon and Edmonton, Lloydminster has the youngest median age in all of Canada. It is known as an agriculture hub, with oil and gas as important economic drivers. In this role, you will have the opportunity to report on stories in Cold Lake and Meadow Lake, including Onion Lake Cree Nation, Thunderchild First Nation, Red Pheasant Cree Nation, Sweetgrass First Nation, Little Pine First Nation and Poundmaker First Nation.

Medicine Hat
We are looking for a reporter to cover Medicine Hat - a city serving as the hub for all of south east Alberta. The city has a strong sense of identity and takes pride in its self-sufficiency. Energy, and agriculture are part of a diverse economic landscape, while sports and arts play an important role in the community. From the local college, to the local police service, Medicine Hat is a city that likes to try new 'first of their kind' projects. CBC is looking for a journalist to cover news-of-the day, and the context driven stories of the city, and the region.

Red Deer
We are looking for a reporter to cover Alberta's third-largest city, which sits right between Calgary and Edmonton on Highway 2. Often overshadowed by its two big neighbours, Red Deer has seen its population boom in recent years and has rich stories to tell. It serves as the hub for many smaller central Alberta communities, particularly for health care, and is at the core of the province's agricultural and energy support industries. It's a gateway for many outdoor enthusiasts, with easy access to the foothills and Rocky Mountains to the west.

Abbotsford
The Fraser Valley is growing rapidly and we're hiring two reporters to live and work in this diverse, happening community east of Vancouver. Abbotsford is known for its agriculture (and is referred to as the Raspberry Capital of Canada) and is also a hub for manufacturing, construction and transportation. This region, which also includes the rapidly growing municipalities of Chilliwack and Mission, has a wide range of people and stories to tell - everything from digging into development and healthcare issues to exploring cultural and community connections.

Fort St. John
We're hiring two reporters who will live and work in northeastern B.C.'s largest city, Fort St. John – also known as the Energetic City. You'll be part of a growing and robust community with affordable housing, amazing amenities and a young, dynamic population. These roles also cover areas including Chetwynd, Dawson Creek, Tumbler Ridge, Hudson's Hope, and Mackenzie. You'll connect regularly with our northern B.C teams in Prince Rupert and Prince George. The Peace Region is rapidly growing with booming resource and energy industries alongside deep environmental and Indigenous roots that help power the rest of the province. From dinosaurs to dams, there's no shortage of stories to tell.

Nanaimo
Here's a chance to live, work and play in Nanaimo, the port city at the centre of Vancouver Island, while covering a wide range of smaller North Island communities. Working closely with our existing Nanaimo-based reporter, you'll delve into important stories like affordability, reconciliation, tourism and environmental issues to name just a few, and expand our coverage north of the city to include Courtenay, Comox and Campbell River.  You'll also collaborate and connect regularly with our Victoria bureau team.

Penticton
Penticton is a city where you can live your best life as a reporter.  It sits between two lakes in the vibrant south Okanagan Valley which comes with hot summers, cold winters and year round outdoor recreation. It also means connecting with and covering rich Indigenous culture, tourism and B.C.'s wine and agriculture industries, to name a few. While you're based in Penticton, you'll work closely with our CBC Kelowna bureau covering the southern Okanagan and Similkameen,  including Osoyoos, Princeton and Summerland. 

Salmon Arm
Salmon Arm is known for its mountain greenery, valleys and beautiful Shuswap Lake. As the CBC reporter living and working in this community, you will collaborate closely with CBC's existing bureaus in Kelowna and Kamloops. You'll cover the diverse agriculture sector, celebrate local arts and culture and dig into tourism and land-use issues in the region, including in Armstrong, Vernon, Sicamous, Revelstoke, and Enderby.  

Squamish
Squamish is a community built on adventure but rapidly expanding to include a diverse range of cultures and populations. This city between Vancouver and Whistler is the base for a dynamic beat where we need a reporter passionate about the Sea-to-ky region, including Whistler, Pemberton and the Sunshine Coast. The views will take your breath away and the issues will keep you on your toes – from housing to tourism and from resource industries to land development. This is the ideal base for a reporter with a sense of adventure, independence and community connection, who will also be closely connected to the CBC Vancouver team.

Proudly home to the Western Canadian Hockey League team, the Prince Albert Raiders - the city has hosted many major sporting events including the North American Indigenous Games and in June 2025, will welcome the WBSC Men's Softball World Cup.
